Press Release
Red Ventures Executive Among Charlotte's Top 25 Women in Business
Christy Durbin honored for transforming two companies from startup to steady growth
7/18/2008
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Christy Durbin of Red Ventures is a recipient of the 2008 Women in Business Achievement Award, presented annually by the Charlotte Business Journal. Durbin, the president of two Red Ventures-owned marketing companies, was honored at the annual luncheon and ceremony July 17 at the Charlotte Convention Center.
Each year, the Women in Business Achievement Awards program honors 25 influential Charlotte businesswomen, as well as one lifetime achievement award winner. “I feel so privileged to be in the company of these outstanding women,” said Durbin. “This recognition, more than anything, is a reflection of the great team here at Red Ventures who is committed to driving record performance every day.”
To be selected, nominees must have achieved notable success in business over the past 12 months. Under Durbin’s leadership, her companies, which acquire customers for the satellite radio industry as well as for-profit educational institutions, went from tenuous startups to high-growth businesses. Durbin’s companies grew by developing innovative customer acquisition programs to reduce dependence on holiday sales in the satellite radio industry and increase admissions office capacity for schools.
Durbin has been with Red Ventures since December 2005. Previously, she worked at Deloitte Consulting doing marketing strategy and at Bank of America in product management. She received her bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary and her MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Durbin and the other 25 Women in Business Achievement Award recipients will be featured in an in-depth special section of the July 18 Charlotte Business Journal.
